Willio is a health and wellness app designed to integrate Activity, Nutrition, and Sleep tracking into one cohesive platform. As the lead UX designer, I aimed to create a seamless, personalized experience while addressing key user needs for better engagement and consistency. By incorporating AI-driven suggestions, dynamic UI elements, and a community feature, we designed an inclusive app that adapts to individual goals and preferences. During prototype testing, we gathered valuable insights into user behavior and pain points, which are being used to iterate on the design for the next phase.
Overview
Project: Willio – Health & Wellness App Objective: Create a single platform to track Activity, Nutrition, and Sleep, providing personalized recommendations for users looking to improve their overall well-being. Stage: MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Research Goal: Validate core features and gather user feedback to refine the design.
- UX Research Planning & Execution: Conducted user interviews, usability tests, and surveys. - Data Analysis: Synthesized both qualitative and quantitative insights to shape design decisions. - Prototyping & Testing: Collaborated with the UI team, led interactive Figma prototype tests, and iterated based on user feedback.
1️⃣ Fragmented Health Data - Users juggled multiple apps for fitness, diet, and sleep, causing a drop in motivation. 2️⃣ Lack of Personalization - People wanted tailored recommendations without feeling overwhelmed by too many options. 3️⃣ Complex Onboarding - Early tests showed that a lengthy sign-up process discouraged new users from continuing. 4️⃣ Accessibility Issues - Some visually impaired users had difficulty with font sizes and color contrast.
- User Interviews: 15 participants (ages 18–35) including professionals and fitness enthusiasts. - Usability Testing: 30 users tested the prototype over 2 weeks to evaluate onboarding, core tracking, and community features. - Surveys & Feedback Forms: Gathered user satisfaction data, feature usage stats, and pain points post-testing. - Analytics: Monitored task completion rates, time on tasks, and drop-off points. 🔵 Objective: Understand how unified tracking and personalized guidance affect user engagement and retention.
1️⃣ Simplify the Start: A cumbersome onboarding flow led to high abandonment rates. 2️⃣ Unify All Metrics: Consolidating activity, nutrition, and sleep in one place boosts motivation. 3️⃣ Personalization Drives Return Visits: AI-based suggestions keep users engaged with tailored goals. 4️⃣ Accessibility Must Be Prioritized: Clear contrast, adjustable font sizes, and potential voice-over support expand usability for everyone.
1️⃣ Unified Health Tracking - Merged Activity, Nutrition, and Sleep into a single interface. 📈 Outcome: Users found it easier to manage all health data in one place, improving overall engagement. Dynamic Personalization 2️⃣ Implemented AI-driven recommendations based on user habits and progress. 📈 Outcome: 70% of testers reported the app felt tailored to their specific goals. Streamlined Onboarding 3️⃣ Shortened the initial flow and clarified each step to reduce user drop-off. 📈 Outcome: Increased first-session completion rates. 4️⃣ Accessibility by Design - Enhanced contrast ratios, larger font options, and considered future voice navigation. 📈 Outcome: More inclusive experience, ensuring broader user adoption.
Testing Scope: 50 users (professionals, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals focused on sleep/nutrition) Method: Remote usability tests using an interactive Figma prototype
